New Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis provides an update on his injured foot.

During the Boston Celtics’ media day on Monday, Kristaps Porzingis provided an update on his injured right foot. The 28-year-old Latvian was forced to withdraw from this summer’s FIBA World Cup due to issues from plantar fasciitis.

Fortunately for the Celtics, Porzingis told reporters that he is fully healthy and ready to go, with the season starting in just a few weeks. On Oct. 24, Boston will play its first road game against the New York Knicks, where Porzingis will make his regular season debut with his new team.

“It really hurt my soul,” Porzingis said of missing out on a chance to represent his country in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. The former All-Star explained that, while he was in fantastic shape to play in the event, chronic foot pain forced him to withdraw.
Porzingis is now fully recovered and ready to play for the Celtics. In fact, his excitement for the upcoming NBA season influenced his choice to skip the World Cup.

“A national team training camp was about to begin,” Porzingis stated on Monday. “And I was in great shape and feeling great.” “It was just my foot that was bothering me.”

“So I told the medical staff,” Porzingis went on to say. “And they told me to rest for a few days.”
“We simply couldn’t make that much progress in such a short period of time.” So the wise decision was to sit out and allow the foot to recover before beginning the season. And that’s exactly what I did.”
The Celtics are anticipated to be one of the most fearsome teams in the NBA this season, and Porzingis will be a big contributor on both sides of the ball, barring injury. A fresh start in terms of health is a fantastic way to start the year.
