Injury to Tom Cannon, a former PNE favorite, has been verified.

Tom Cannon, a former striker for Preston North End, will likely spend some time on the sidelines after Leicester City

revealed they signed him while he was injured.

PNE tried for the majority of the summer to re-sign Tom Cannon after his successful loan stint earlier in the year.

When Cannon was observed at Deepdale during the 2-0 preseason victory against Aberdeen, North End supporters had genuine cause for optimism.

After much wrangling, PNE ultimately lost out to a contract that Leicester City swooped in with.

Cannon was able to move to the King Power Stadium on the final day of the transfer window thanks to a £7.5 million deal that Everton reached.

Tom Cannon blow is confirmed by Leicester City
Although Cannon has not yet played for the Foxes, it is currently unknown when he will be able to do so.

That’s because Enzo Maresca, the manager of Leicester, just disclosed to BBC Sport that Cannon has a stress fracture in his back.

The problem was raised in his medical, but Leicester was pleased to move forward with the purchase since they thought Cannon would be okay in the long run.

There is now no estimated time frame for the 20-year-old’s return because Leicester must wait for Cannon.

Cannon hasn’t even trained with Leicester yet, according to Maresca, because the Foxes want to think long-term rather than only concentrating on an immediate impact.

PNE supporters might be relieved about Cannon.
We all desired Cannon’s return; in the second half of the previous season, he excelled while on loan at North End.

Before Leicester won the race, Peter Ridsdale acknowledged on the From The Finney podcast that PNE did make a permanent offer for Cannon and that Everton had accepted.

Later, North End signed Basel winger Liam Millar on loan and acquired Montenegro striker Milutin Osmajic in a club-record transaction.

Against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, both players had an immediate impact and helped PNE win its sixth straight Championship game.

Even though PNE may have recognized the long-term potential in Cannon, it’s difficult to argue against Millar and Osmajic having an influence right now.

Additionally, there is concern that Cannon’s injury could have long-term effects. PNE supporters may be happy that a high price was not paid for a player who would likely miss some time.
