How much Morgan Gibbs-White now earns at Nottingham Forest after Tottenham transfer collapses.

Nottingham Forest have managed to defy the odds and keep Morgan Gibbs-White at the club.

For a couple of weeks, it’s looked inevitable that Gibbs-White would soon be wearing the white of Tottenham next season.

However, Evangelos Marinakis hailed Gibbs-White as he spoke about his vice-captain following Saturday’s announcement of a new contract for the talismanic player.

Marinakis is unhappy with Daniel Levy, with the Forest owner feeling the Tottenham chief disrespected the Reds with his antics over Gibbs-White.

Naturally, Forest had to pull out the stops to get Gibbs-White to stay, but after Anthony Elanga was sold to Newcastle, this is a huge thing for Forest ahead of the new season.

How much Morgan Gibbs-White will earn at Nottingham Forest

Marinakis has gone the extra mile to make sure Gibbs-White has ignored the admiring glances from elsewhere.

According to the Daily Mail, the player will now earn a weekly wage of £150,000-a-week, making him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

Forest’s number 10 is going to be vitally important once again next season and as a regular starter, he will likely wear the captain’s armband more often than

not.

Gibbs-White is clearly happy on Trentside and now he will hope to produce the goods and win a place in next summer’s England squad for the World Cup.

Forest players had been resigned to losing Gibbs-White this summer but now they can look forward to the talismanic figure being part of the squad next season.

Gibbs-White can help the club attract more players

Had Forest sold Gibbs-White and Elanga in the same summer, it would have been a tough sell to convince potential recruits that things were hunky-dory at the club.

Offloading one top player each summer is the nature of the beast for a club like Forest in a PSR era but selling two is far from ideal to continue progressing.

Dan Ndoye looks set to sign for Forest in the coming days and he will likely be joined by more new players as the season gets ever closer.

Gibbs-White is being paid handsomely to remain at Forest, but if that’s what it takes to try and get things sorted for his inevitable departure in the years to come, then so be it.
