Everton table several £15m+ bids to sign Leeds United star Wilfried Gnonto, determined to reunite him with Jack Harrison

Everton remain ‘Determined’ to sign Leeds forward Wilfried Gnonto after sealing a deal for his teammate Jack Harrison on Monday, report the Daily Mail.

Writing in their Transfer Confidential newsletter (14 August), the newspaper report that the Toffees have had “a number of offers [worth] over £15m rejected” for the Italy international during this transfer window.

But after sealing a season-long loan deal for Harrison, Everton are still looking to sign 19-year-old Gnonto this month as he pushes for a move away from Elland Road by refusing to play.

Everton, meanwhile, remain determined to sign Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds despite agreeing a loan for Leeds’ Jack Harrison last night,” they wrote.

“Everton have had a number of offers over £15m rejected for Gnonto who is refusing to play for Leeds and is facing disciplinary action as he pushes to leave.”

Signing attackers is great for Everton right now, especially if they’re going to improve the squad and options that Sean Dyche has at his disposal.

But right now Harrison doesn’t do that as he continues to recover from a hip injury, and with Youssef Chermiti not expected to make any sort of impact in the first-team yet Gnonto becomes more and more essential.

The player has already agreed personal terms and is desperate to come to Goodison Park, and clearly it’s going to be a more expensive deal than was initially believed for us to complete.

But the player is just 19 and has fantastic potential, so investing in his signature to avoid relegation and boost our forward options would be seen as excellent business by everyone up to a certain point.

It could be the best signing we make this summer considering his attributes and what we are lacking, and with time running out Everton need to make ad decision on whether to pull the trigger or pull out of the race.
