John Percy: Nottingham Forest confirm the deal of ‘Fastest Footballer on the Planet’

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo could find himself completing a romantic return for rapid Fulham star Adama Traore in the coming weeks of the transfer window, according to reports – with the east Midlands outfit seeing him as a ‘serious target’ to replace Anthony Elanga, after the Swedish speedster joined Newcastle United for ยฃ55million earlier in the transfer window.

Forest have sold both Elanga and Ramon Sosa this window, meaning two wingers have left the club – and with Espirito Santo liking his teams to play wide, it’s no surprise to see them in the market for players in that department. That has led them to former favourite Traore, with Santo having worked with the winger for three years at Wolverhampton Wanderers before he joined Tottenham Hotspur as manager.

Report: Nottingham Forest Making ‘Serious’ Move for Traore

Anthony Elanga needs to be replaced ahead of their European run

The report by The Telegraph journalist John Percy states that manager Nuno is targeting a reunion with Traore, with the sale of Elanga leaving a massive void on their right flank in terms of directness and pace, and Traore has been described as the ‘fastest football player on the planet’ – so it seems to be the perfect match.

The Fulham man featured heavily under Nuno at Wolves in their ‘Golden Era’ of the 21st century, and although he’s a regular in the capital, he has emerged as a ‘serious target’ for Nuno. The gaffer wants wide men to join his club after retaining the services of Morgan Gibbs-White, who signed a new contract over the weekend.

Traore has featured for four Premier League clubs throughout his career, starting out at Aston Villa, being relegated and then finding himself at Middlesbrough – before another relegation saw him join Wolves upon their promotion to the top-flight.

Spending five seasons at Molineux, as well as a half-season loan spell at Barcelona, Traore was a key player under the Portuguese boss, making 194 appearances in the Black Country, before ending up at Fulham, where he played in all but two games in west London last season.

Only 29 years of age, Traore is closing in on his 250th Premier League appearance and that should continue at the City Ground, amid Forest’s ‘serious’ move for his services.
