PL club now have confidence they’ll win the race to sign ‘really special’ Chelsea player

West Ham now have confidence they’ll beat Tottenham in the race to sign Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher this summer.

That is according to a report from The Evening Standard.

They claim that West Ham are optimistic they can nudge Premier League and London rivals Spurs aside to get Conor Gallagher in this transfer window.

This comes after Chelsea rejected West Ham’s opening bid worth £40million for the midfielder.

There’s been conflicting reports this month regarding the future of Gallagher, who’s currently playing and impressing during Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States.

So, will the England international be a West Ham player by the time the summer window closes?

It’s worth noting that David Moyes’ men are the only Premier League side yet to make a signing this summer, despite the huge sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal.

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, via Football Daily, reported this week that West Ham are considering a fresh attempt to sign Gallagher after the £40million failure.

However, Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear this week during a press conference that he wants the box-to-box central midfielder to stay for the upcoming season.

Pochettino claimed that “Conor is in oAur plans” when discussing the academy graduate’s future, as quoted by Football.London.

Described as “really special” by Patrick Vieira (TEAMtalk), Gallagher will often divide opinion when you discuss him with the Chelsea fanbase.

If Pochettino can bring the goalscoring midfielder out in him, there’s no way he should be sold and he could be in for a big 2023/24 season. However, this West Ham speculation refuses to go away and he’s a sellable asset for big money.
