Everton make firm approach to sign Willy Gnonto as £12.8m Leeds United development emerges

Everton are interested in signing Leeds winger Wilfried Gnoto following the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport

The Italian newspaper reported on Tuesdsay (27 June) that Gnoto could be available for as little as £12.8million during this summer transfer window.

The Italian winger is keen on a move away from Elland Road after the club was relegated to the Championship with  Park and the Premier League emerging as a potential destinations.

Juventus and a return to In

ter Milan are both reportedly options for the 19-year-old, however, Everton and German side Freiburg are the only clubs to have made concrete moves so far, having asked Leeds for information on the player’s availability.

Leeds have responded to enquiries by setting a price tag of a fee between £12.8million and £17.2million for their player.

There is no doubt about the fact that Gnoto is an incredibly talented prospect.

He scored two goals and provided four assists in 24 Premier League appearances for the West Yorkshire side last season which is a seriously impressive return considering his age, the fact it was his debut season in England and Leeds’ struggles.

In a more positive environment with Premier League experience already under his belt, the Italian international could certainly flourish. Gnoto is Italy’s youngest-ever goalscorer and is certainly a talent for the future.

His direct approach from out wide and ability to beat his man is frightening and when he featured for Leeds last season he was often the best player on the pitch.

If Everton could pull this deal off, it would be a massive signing for the club. While he will not necessarily be the goalscorer Sean Dyche is crying out for, his quality will most definitely bring life to a stale Everton forward line.
